... and once the USB interface is up and running, this unit plus a loptop
and one wire between the two will be handy.  (Hey, is MIDI control over USB
also part of that plan?)

And it's not like entering notes on the unit itself would be any quick
thing, given its method of text entry.   But since it DOES have this
text-entry method, perhaps its software is modular enough to call that
routine from some new function.  (F'rinstance, a new param for existing
entities (setup, pattern, song, preset) simply called "Text Note.")
