Are you calling up patterns or playing the tempo realtime? If you are calling up patterns, in the MIDI menu system you can set CHAINED PATTERNS to "change to new tempo" instead of "keep tempo constant." You would then have to make sure all patterns you call up have the right tempo.
If you are not playing patterns, perhaps you can set some "empty" patterns for tempo--no note/event data, except maybe dummy CC data so the pattern does not go back to default settings.
I haven't tried this, but its a thought. Perhaps there are other ideas--such as using a foot pedal to tap tempo. Unfortunately, under tempo controllers you can only set up and down, not return to basic tempo.
