Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

ok, i've got ubuntu-studio (that's linux!) and a tapco midi adapter 
happily making (and restoring) sysex backups to/from other gear. but when 
i try to check out the songs/patterns/presets posted in the files section, 
all i can do is make the "midi in" light on my XL7 blink.

no error messages on the XL7. no new stuff after the dump.

any suggestions? thanks...
