Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Just got and installed the ZR card of sounds into my XL-7.  The piano sound
is great, and I'm reminded how very neat the "audition" feature is for
showing off the patches.

So here's the dumb question:  Many of the sounds are designated as "General
MIDI" banks.  I've used GM within my Mac, and with my little Yamaha
keyboard that has it.  But is GM automatically sensed and used within the
XL-7, now that the card's there?  And if so, what would have happened if
I'd sent GM to it when it didn't have the card?

(There's no GM documentation with the card, tho it has "GM" in the patch
listing.)
