This essentially looks correct (you have not typed it 'exactly' as reported) but it does seem like it is connected bi-directionally. Are you able to transfer Sequence files using E-Loader? Are you able to play MIDI notes by mousing around in the MIDI Tracker window? Can you see activity in the MIDI Tracker window when you play the XL-7? > i tried again, and also select the "extreme" instead of "default > program" at the preference option.(also,i didn't select anything and > it's set at default prog. This only changes the Appearance (color scheme) of the application - just a simple 'skinning' choice. It doesn't need to be set to any particular value for the MIDI operation to work :-) > after i power on the xl7(by pressing home/enter and on/off at once of > course),the xl showed "searching for os..._ " and the e-loader > showed "download request received" then i pressed the "download os > file to target" soft button, and the xl7 red midi in led indicator did > flash once(just once, less than half sec.)then i again stuck in the > same situation(xl7 said "searching for os..._ and midi out repeatedly > flashed" and the e-loader showed "download request received".) > i waited over 15 mins (i think if its in proper process just need > several seconds to a min ,right?) After choosing to Download on E-Loader, the screen on XL-7 should change to 'MIDI Download' nearly instantly. If it never does that, it is not receiving even the first MIDI message from E-Loader correctly. Again, please tell me what version of OS and what version of Java are you running. This information will be displayed in the Message Console (found in the Window menu). It would be best if you send me (off list) the entire log file. > then exit the e-loader. > then i power off the xl7.re-open the e-loader,the e-loader big logo > graphics just stuck my pc,i had to do"ctrl/alt/del" to exit from it. > is this a bug of the e-loader too?(sometimes the top left small > rectangular menu bar just displayed half the graphic horizontally...) > thats all i did,any suggestion?pls help. As I stated before, these problems, although annoying, should not stop the MIDI aspects of E-Loader from working. Once you have a problem like this, it would be best to reboot your system to make sure it has a clean slate when starting E-Loader next. We are actively working to fix this problem, but meanwhile it should not be stopping you from updating the OS on your XL-7, which is what's most important ;-) I'm sorry you are having these problems. E-Loader seems to be working fine for most users, so there is something unusual about your setup that we haven't yet been able to isolate. As Sean said, you can contact him to get a ROM update kit in the mail to you, but it would be good for both you and E-mu to understand why this is not working for you. If you don't mind to continue to troubleshoot this, we should probably take the rest of our work off-list. If we find a problem that is pertinent to the rest of the list, we can post our conclusions afterwards. Scott
