Re: prodatum classic beta now: Win 98

2009-07-16 by steve_the_composer

I have done some tests with the Win98. Results are inconclusive.

A. Getting data (initialization) causes lock up; cold reboot needed
(1) Ports detected; P2500 and ROMs detected
(2) Prodatum and P2500 communicate for about 10 seconds then stop
(3) PC slows to a standstill
(4) 0 byte config file created; no other files in prodatum_out

B. To test further, I copied the P2500's data from the XP
(1) Ports, P2500, ROMs detected; changed ports (ESS MPU 401)
(2) Prodatum seemed to handle the data
(2) Switching to a particular channel caused a lock up

I will try some more testing, including with another Win98 PC.

(I know I have a few joystick/MIDI cables here someplace.) I believe its still (or mostly) a 1999 vintage Aptiva, probably with the original sound card drivers.
