Re: EMU is giving me a checksum error???????

2009-05-15 by woodsworth1

I think that the output of the ROM test is just a checksum value (and if the ROM is unchanged then you can match the checksum against the expected value). I'm not sure that this is an error.

Your problem is not clear. What is your XL7 not doing (that you expect it to do)? And when did the functionality change? Also, what do you expect MidiQuest to do?

As a guess it seems your sound ROMS (in the SIMM slots) are not available[?] If this is the case you should be aware that the EMU modules are particular in the way in which SIMMs are installed. You must have them in consecutive slots from slot zero up. If you have an empty SIMM slot then SIMMs in larger numbered slots may not be available. [SIMMs may or may not work if you do not adhere to this rule but I've found that 'not working' is more likely]

Well i have spent the last few days reading up on systex and bought midiquest as it has a way to check the systex data and send systex messeges and what ever but i cant get anything figured out. I know its a error but i need to know how bad? Anyone got any ideas?
