Make sure the program change for the clip you're exporting out of Live is set to none (it's a drop down menu in the bottom panel where you set the loop/envelope stuff).

I found when using Live it's easier to just record the MIDI in to the xx-7.

I have an old version of cubase that i got free w/a soundcard, that works better, you don't have to do 1 track at a time.

I'd be interested in a simple dedicated MIDI editor that works well for this purpose as well . . .
