Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Hi!
When recording, how do I get my xl-7 to record midi on channel 1 to track1, and midi on channel 2 to track 2?  The xl-7 is recording everything to the currently selected track, and then sending it out on that tracks associated midi channel, ie, if I've selected track3, all recorded midi (on any channel) gets recorded to, and played back on track3 (which outputs everything on midi channel 3). This is with Rechannelize input set to OFF, of course. 

I basically want to press record, and have incoming midi on channel 2 get recorded on track 2, while incoming midi on track1 gets recorded to track 1.
How do I get this working?
