I have just started exploring the potential for using the E-Mu sequencer with the Proteus-X. (1) Has anyone done anything with this, and if so, do you want to share tips/thoughts/working modalities/etc.? (2) Is anyone here interested in discussing this here? If anyone else is interested: (1) www.emu.com is still offering Proteus XV - a free, lite version that doesn't need an e-mu/creative card or midi interface to work. All you need to do is sign up for an e-mail newsletter. (2) The basic concept is to use the sequencer to drive an external sound source; in this case, the external sound source is software. (3) The artist formerly known as rEalm has a suggested list of settings to optimize Windows as a software-based music machine. (I found these helped with Proteus-X, VSTs, DXis, and SynthEdit.) (4) You can import (with the right equipment) EIII and EIV (EOS) banks If no one else is interested, that's OK with me. I just thought I'd mention it. --Steve
