steve's also right the xl-7 will not save your patch changes for any
pattern unless you enter midi data INTO THE XL-7.  you are playing the
xl-7 externally w/ midi notes from another sequencer.  but the xl-7
doesn't "see" any notes in the pattern so it doesn't remember the
sounds for the notes that aren't there...dig?
