Bank switching involves three parameters: ROM ID [MSB] ROM BANK [LSB] Program Change MIDI Spec defines controllers 0 and 32 for bank switching; you also need to send a program change in order for the swicth to take effect. If you have no controllers or devices hooked up to your gear (either hardware or software), you could still accidently switch to a bank you don't have. That would result in the "NOT INSTALLED" message. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Angelo" <ace.angelo@...> wrote: > > when i used the roland a-33 controler to my proteus2000 > i found out when i tried to change patches > the NOT INSTALLED would show up > I then figured out that the controller > was sending something to the emu that did not agree > So then i played around with the cc32 and the cc00 buttons on the controller > and set them to the user bank 0 of the Emu > and it worked > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Bob S. > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2008 6:03 PM > Subject: Re: [xl7] Keep getting not installed error on XL7 try this > > > That's interesting info on the cc's.....how did you find that out ? > > Bob > El Segundo, CA > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Angelo > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2008 2:23 PM > Subject: Re: [xl7] Keep getting not installed error on XL7 try this > > are u trying to get the sounds out through a midi controller? > if you are make shure the cc32 is set to 0 > and the cc00 is set to 0 > or it will say not installed!!! > will the demo song play? > if it does you still have the sounds there > hope this helps you > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: phillip deverell > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Friday, September 12, 2008 3:09 PM > Subject: Re: [xl7] Keep getting not installed error on XL7 > > The OS loads but when I try to access the XL7 rom it says "not installed'. Then if I move the jog wheel the user presets show up but they have no sound rom to go off of, and no sound comes out. I think it is a software problem. Thanks for your advice, I hope I can still fix it. > > --- On Thu, 9/11/08, Ty Rodgers <solacerodgers@...> wrote: > > > From: Ty Rodgers <solacerodgers@...> > > Subject: Re: [xl7] Keep getting not installed error on XL7 > > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > > Date: Thursday, September 11, 2008, 3:12 PM > > does it say no sound rom found when you go to select a > > sound?
