Hi there, I have recently started using an MPC1000 (with JJ/OS 2.0) along side my trusty XL7 and it seems to be a nice compliment. I just added an MTP AV so everything down the chain (Nord Rack, Oberheim Echoplex)gets it's clock from the Timepiece, and the MPC starts and stops the XL7, but the sequencers are remaining separate at this point. The XL7 still RULES in my book, as far as laying down tracks quickly and efficiently in a musical fashion. If you like the way you write on the XL7 - with just a little bit more sample management in advance, you can do pretty much the same style writing on the MPC. (Can't change tracks in record on MPC - but you can drop out of record/change track and back into record without stopping tho...) I think these two play well together. Hope this helps jt --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Alwyn <zardac@...> wrote: > > Kinda OT, but also not, > > i have the XL7, and i love its sequencing and immediacy of the sounds, > but i'm now wanting to use a sampler.. i've been looking at the > aftermarket JJOS 2.0 for the mpc1000 and it seems to have added a > bunch of nice synth and sequencing features like the step sequencing > screen etc. > (http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/ JJOS website) > > Is anyone here able to comment on the similarities and differences > between the two devices? > > Cheers, > [zar] > > > 2008/7/14 caldwell_jm <caldwell_jm@...>: > > I have the MPC 4000.
