I actually had a asr-x for about 3 years and traded it for the mp-7 as I was not using it for much sampling anymore due to the sequencer being crap and the mouse encoder knobs being shot. I had my neighboor who builds custom cabinets for boats carve sidepanels for my mp-7 and stained them, they look just like the black plastic ones only there wood grain and look great plus add some weight to the machine. If i cold find the right person i would like to do a nice paint job with graf text in place of the original but forat.com isnt doing any art for the xx-7 series as they do not have the letter templates. There is a company that is releasing inverted blue screens and color leds for samplers ( right now just the mpc ) but i would also like to chance this from the dull green to blue.

I just have a link to the eBay auction
<http://cgi.ebay. com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll?ViewItem& item=15024784099 3> .
It's dark metallic green but that's only noticeable in bright light.
Also the letters were simply drawn back on by hand with a silver
permanent marker but overall it's neat(ish) and legible. I'm glad my
introduction to this machine was in a generic paint job like this
because I think my whole creativity would have been thrown off with the
bright splash paint job. It was pure chance I ended up with this as I
was bidding on an ASR-X. I got the Roland S-750 to make up for
that(still haven't tried it out yet until the wires get here but have
heard it's on par with the ASR's sound). I still want to try an X
though.
I'd love to see some other custom XX-7's also. I'm still getting used to
it and it's baddass!
