Try an Ensoniq ASR-X pro. I have been using this with my PX-7 for many years now and could not be happier. Great effects and amazing sampler (sequencer kinda sucks but who cares.) you can resample with effects and even use it as an effects insert thru your mp-7 inserts. only down side is the scsi hard drives can be hard to find. you can use zips but that gets annoying after a while. max hard drive on this machine is 2.2 gigs.
