Well I dont know what is all wrong with it but heres what it does do. It sends and receives midi notes as i can trigger battery from it and use the knobs to make adjustments to cc# and it receives midi because i can sync it with ableton and make the sequencer run with it. The only function that fails in the diagonisis test is the sound rom ( test where it reads each simm slot and fails all 4 ) I have another mp7 that works perfect but I figured i would save this one and use it as a midi controller and save it for spare parts as they are crazy expensive everywhere i have seen them. Thanks.

Do you have the track destinations set to EXT instead of INT? That 
would be my first guess.

My second would be that your MP-7 might not be working correctly... 
If it won't read ROMs how do you know there aren't other issues?
