If you have a complete midi loop between your computer (using e- loader) and your xl-7 (and the sysex ID is correctly listed in the set up), are your patterns xl-7 patterns listed in thr bank browser? If so, select whichever patterns you want to save, right click and choose "get selected sequences. Then navigate to the folder where you want to save the patterns. If your patterns are not listed, and you are sure your e-loader settings are correct (both ports and sysex ID), try pressing refresh. As soon as you do, both the green and red leds (midi out and in leds) on the xl-7 should flash one and off very rapidly for about 3 seconds. If they don't, what does it say in slot 0 of the e-loader bank browser? If it says <not received> and slots 1 - 127 say <no name loaded> then you do not have e-loader and the xl-7 set up to communicate with each other via midi system exclusive commands for some reason. Is there any device in your system that might be filtering out the sysex commands? This is important because because the pattern dumps use sysex to transfer the songs via midi. Hope this helps. As for the e-mu's usb port, you cannot use that as a substitute for midi. You either need a midi interface or a device such as a usb keyboard that has a selectable midi port. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "dwn4tupac" <dwn4tupac@...> wrote: > > yes I have no problems sending midi to the xl-7 and it is recognized > when i plug it in via midi, but i can't get any patterns out of the > machine onto the pc. > > also does the usb allow for the xfer of midi clock? > I really hope so because I have a laptop w/ no midi in/out > > N
