i'd still like to see a more OS-agnostic approach to transferring files 
between a xx7 and a computer... the xx7 should support a "dumb" mode where 
it acts like a flash drive. the computer can then open folders such as 
"patch_data", "songs", "loops", etc and just drag-n-drop and rename files 
as needed.

that would also solve my problem of getting my XL7 to talk to a BSD box.

maybe in OS3...?
