hve you asked one if there is any other cahnge to upgrade the os.... ? I now that the most synths can be upgraded via MIDI vfiles played in a sequencer... maybe you should load the os in cubase or etc. and connect the midi out from da pc tu da midi in with the xl-7..I don\ufffdt know, but may be it works.....
