Just starting to get into BoC myself.  Great stuff!

The ROMS in my XL7:

Xtreme Lead 2.0 - The XL7's default ROM.  Nice selection of synth
waves of the trance/techno variety.  Aeon as I recall is a huge fan of
combining these with the ones in the Vintage Collection ROM - as he
says, think of it as combining VCO-based analog synths with DC0-based
and outright digital synths.

World Expedition - Highly sought after.  I'm very lucky to get one at
$200, people say this ROM goes for a lot more used.  The main
attraction for most user is the ethnic drum samples, and there are
plenty.  The gong sounds are great too.

Vintage Collection - My favorite all-purpose ROM.  Very good electric
piano, organ, and analog synth samples.  Some folks like the basses
and drums too.

Protean Drums (the PX7 ROM) - Pretty much as others have stated.
