Re: [xl7] A FURTHER THING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT

2002-02-14 by Alex Strudley

OK, bear with me, this is where the XL is kind of confusing. It boots
up in Master FX mode, this is because it boots in pattern mode and not
preset mode.

If you want to control every presets individual FX, press Mode View
Preset button, then press the Global button, once in there there is a
screen that says FX MULTIMODE CONTRLOL, if it says use master settings
change it to preset on channel 1A.
Then still while in the Global Meno go to the screen that says MIX
OUTPUT. Make sure it says channel 01A:Use Preset. This way you can now
go set up FX A and FX B in preset edit and set what FX you want and then
still while in the FX page go to FXA SEND AMOUNTS and 1 controls the
amount. For FX B go to FXB SEND AMOUNT and 1 controls the B amount.
If you want to do a Multi FX set up where you have an entire
multitimbral mix bussed out, change things back to master FX and use the
Mix Output screet to send the proper amount of FX to the proper buss.

Remember, there are four FX Busses, that's what 1,2,3, and 4 are, then
you can use MIX OUTPUT in GLOBAL to send whatever channel you want to
whatever buss you want, then you have control over the whole mix. If
you are using global master FX, like what I was just talking about, you
change the FX parameters under the GLOBAL menu. If you have preset FX
on, you change it under FX in the preset edit.

Bottom line, you can only have 2 FX going at the same time. IF you are
in preset FX mode, each preset can use up to 2 FX. If you are in
multitimbral mode, you can only use 2 FX, but the trick is to take
advantage of the FX Bussing system and bus things out with various
channels having different amounts of FX. Just incase you are wondering,
there is no way to have it always in preset fx mode and go do a 16
channel multitimbral sequence in the XL7 and have 2 separate FX on each
channel all independent of each other. That would be cool but would
require way too much processing power.

ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE, TRY READING THE MANUAL. E-MU PROBABLY HAS THE
BEST MANUALS IN THE BUSINESS, WELL THATS I HAVE SEEN ANYWAY, FAR BETTER
THAN ANY CLUGEY ROLAND, YAMAHA, OR KORG MANUAL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF
IT!!! see page 211 in your XL7 manual.
