I double-checked this after surfing through some messages on this
group but it didn't seem to make any difference.  I also tried several
target synths just in case it was some peculiarity of one instrument,
but with no luck.

By reloading the sequence do you mean saving it, switching to another
sequence, then back to the original?  I haven't tried that yet.
