I use the pads on the Command Station for Drums but I would like to use a keyboard for the bass parts, and when I do I get the wrong bass sound that I wanted, is there any thing I need to turn off in the midi section? It sounds like you successfully have the controller routed to the XL- 7. Now, make sure your controller is transmitting on the same midi channel you have the bass preset. For example, if bas.MyBass is on C03A, make sure the controller is transmitting on midi channel 3. Also, make sure rechannelize if off. (I assume you are already in multitimbral mode.) And if for some reason, your controller is sending out a program change message, you can turn RECCEIVE PROGRAM CHANGE for that channel to off. > > 2. Can the Emu control my eq parameters in Sonar 5, by using the 16 knobs on the Command Station? I just get tired of turning the knobs with my mouse In Sonar 3, I played around with Control Surfaces. I assume Sonar 5 still has them. Follow the tutorial on how to set up a control surface. Basically, this feature is designed so you can use your controller to control what Sonar does. NOTE: I am not sure if Sonar's eq is mappable via control surfaces, though. In case Sonar 5 is similar, here are the steps in Sonar 3: 1. Select Options | Control Surfaces 2. Insert a new control surface [in Sonar 3, its the button with a yellow star]. 3. In the Settings dialog, select Cakewalk Generic Surface [unless someone has already designed one for the E-MU Command Station] and the midi port where the XL-7 midi out is connected. 4. In Sonar 3, I then go to Tools and select the Cakewalk Generic Surface. [Perhaps Cakewalk put all these in one spot in later editions, so check the Cakewalk help system.] 5. A multifacted Cakewalk Generic Surface window [or counterpart] should pop up. Here's where you map your XL-7 knobs to Sonar function. (Make sure KNOBS OUTPUT MIDI is set to >>transmit<<.) NOTE: In Sonar 3, I cannot find any mappable eq parameters. You might want to check out the discussion boards at cakewalk. Let me know what you find; maybe I will save up for an upgrade. Hope this helps. --Steve
