This is from memory - hopefully others will correct my errors: Composer (from the original Proteus 2000 module) Protozoa (sounds of the original Proteus 1, 2, & 3 modules) Definitive B3 (core of the B3 module) Pure Phatt (core of the Mo'Phatt module) Xtreme Lead (core of the Xtreme Lead 1 module) Xtreme Lead V2 (core of the XL-7 Command Station)* Techno Synth Construction Yard (half of the Orbit 3 module) Beat Garden (half of the Orbit 3 module) Orchestral Sessions Vol. 1 (half of the Virtuoso 2000 module) Orchestral Sessions Vol. 2 (half of the Virtuoso 2000 module) Siedlaczek Advanced Orchestra Holy Grail Piano World Expedition (core of the Planet Earth module) Ensoniq Project (from the Ensoniq Real World & Urban Dance Project ROMs MR/ZR keyboards and modules) Sounds of the ZR (core of the Ensoniq Halo keyboard) Protean Drums (core of the PX-7 Command Station) Proteus Pop Collection (core of the Proteus 2500 module) Vintage Collection (core of the Vintage Pro module) * the XL-7 actually has its own version of the Xtreme Lead V2 with different presets called the X-ROM I have a PX-7 that has: the Protean Drums ROM (standard), the X-ROM (from an XL-7), the Pure Phatt ROM (actually from an MP-7), and the Beat Garden ROM. This is a rather nice grouping of ROMs, methinks. > Also, Is there a list of the patches and wave forms that were on these > boards ? Somewhere out there on the vast Internet, perhaps. I don't know of any main source. This group's files section has more than a few instrument definition files for Cubase and other sequencers, the patch listings are often there. If you have a Mac and Digital Performer, the Expansion Board Setup program has most of the ROMs to configure for patch names. > Also which is the rareist of all boards at this time ? > Is it Beat garden ? I would say the World Expedition is the most sought after ROM at this point, mostly because it is uniformly excellent and very, very rare. The Vintage Collection ROM is also highly sought after and is also very good. The only ROMs I would recommend avoiding are: Siedlaczek Advanced Orchestral (only two banks of patches and the samples seem compromised in quality) Holy Grail Piano (very limited and probably bettered by the Perfect Piano stuff in the Sounds of the ZR ROM) Ensoniq Project (about ten good sounds and the rest are pretty awful - good actual samples though if you're into programming) Composer (the Proteus Pop Collection is the same samples but much better preset patches) > 1 more thing, Is ther a valuation of the various boards out there (Not > on prepal.com) Or does one just need to check Ebay frequently for > pricing ? Ebay sets the price. Most ROMs are going for over $150 and some are very close to the original $240 price that E-mu used to sell them for. > Look forward to getting some answers on this topic.
