Re: What is this in Pattern Edit?

2005-10-24 by steve_the_composer

C01 = midi channel 1
prog: 0 = change program/patch/preset to the program/patch/preset in
slot 0
m = msb = most significant bit for bank switching
l = lsb = least significant bit for bank switching

Since msb and lsb are both off in your example, the midi event tells
the synth to switch to preset/patch 0 in the current bank on midi
channel 1.

Try changing prog to another number and see what happens.

Now, select a preset in one of your roms, then press audition. Do you
see an lsb and and msb number? If so, those numbers designate rom and
bank number.

If you want to insert a program change in the middle of a sequence,
you can add it using pattern edit if you know the rom number, the bank
number and the preset number.

Hope this makes sense.

As for ending a song, why not just press the stop button? Or why not
assign a foot pedal to stop the sequencer?

In pattern mode, patterns continue until you stop the sequencer.
However, in song mode, you can chain patterns together and have a STOP
at the end of the chain.

If you have an 8-bar pattern in the middle of your song that you want
to use at the end and have it stop after measure 6 beat 2 (for
example), why not just copy that pattern to another slot, change the
length to 6 measures, and delete all the notes and events after beat
2, and put a STOP even after it?
