Just discovered the answer to my question.
The Ln (pattern length) entry in the Step record screen.

If the Realtime recorded track is 40 bars long, go into Step record,
and enter 40 for the Ln entry, save it. The playback will stop at bar
41 when you play it back.

Simple ... but I couldn't find it in the documentation.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
