No midi path, no sysex

2005-09-27 by steve_the_composer

If your computer does not have a midi in, you cannot dump midi data to
it (unless somehow you evolution offers two-way communication between
your gear and your computer. I have never used the evolution.

If all the evolution has is midi out which goes to your gear (and no
in), I don't see how you were going to send the midi file with the
sysex data to the e-mu in the first place.

To send sysex data from a computer to synth gear, you need a midi path
from the computer to the gear. Unless I don't understand your setup,
it doesn't seem like you have such a path.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this is your set up:

Evolution (midi out)======> E-mu (midi in)

Where is the midi path from the computer to the E-mu?

Hope this helps.
