Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Is the native Rom in MP7 fully removable and substituted for any other from
Emu's line,  like the Beat Garden or the Xtreme? I really find this soundset
quite narrow in scope and variety of sounds, and not what I expected (I must
admit, however, that I got the MP over the XL mostly because of the
colour...)
I have already sold the Rom which is inside of it, but I'd like to make sure
the Rom is not hardwired to anything, and that the machine will boot up
regularly with another  Rom in its place, the Protozoa for example, or the
ZR, or any other.
Obviously, I know I'd lose the sounds of the patterns.
