I couldn't readily find the discussion, but I did find a discussion on "Setup for Sequencing Hell" (circa January 2005) that may be of interest to some. As for retaining channel assignments, you may want to do what I did: I have patterns that serve as templates. (One is at location 000^0 so its there at power up.) One pattern has my external track assignments and some cc/volume data on each track. I think I named it MultiA --> ext.
