After my afternoon monster post, I went home with a Midiman 2x2 USB Midi box to try and download OS 1.18 which is supposed to open a Pandora's box of wonders for my MP7. I have a new Mac I-Book, with OS 9.2 and plenty of Ram. After all connections and installations, and following all instructions, the E-Loader still won't load a damn thing. There is incoming Midi signal from the MP7 to the Midiman, but no other action is taking place. Somewhere I read I should install Java, and that there are two, a MS and a Sun one on the CD: well, on MY cd there is just a MRJ installer, and it won't even install, saying "MRJ CANT BE INSTALLED ON THIS SYSTEM. RE-INSTALL THE SYSTEM OR UPGRADE TO A NEWER VERSION OF TAC". Tac? What's Tac? What other monster quest do I have to embark on now? Trying to make this behemot machine work is becoming like a Lord of the Rings adventure. Anybody has a clue? Maybe I should mention that E-Loader doesn't seem too quick when launched... it also asks me for a Device ID, which I assume i'll leave as 0.
