One of my favorite ways to play the XL-7 is with a little Yamaha keyboard from a few years back that I got used for $100. It has 4 octaves and lovely touch sensitvity and good mod wheels, PLUS it has stereo speakers. It's about the size of a computer keyboard, and I imagine it was designed for home computer users. Anyway, I plug the midi from the keyboard into the XK-7, take the sound out of the XL-7 and put it into the Yamaha's line in, and disable the local playing of notes on the Yamaha. I play the Yamaha, holding it in my lap in my comfy chair (yeah, this goes against all those posture lessons I had with piano) and the XL-7 off to one side.
