Patch preview select from Xl7 to external module?

Any way to select patch(increment & decrements}on an external module
from the Xl7 large data wheel?If not,are there any other ways of doing
this from the Xl7.I just want to preview patches on my external module
using the Xl7.If so ( Instructions)?
