Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but i've literally
figured out eveything else on this machine except this..How do i
assign a preset to an unassigned track? I've tried to record..copy
and paste..nothing..It ends up on the track..but when I enable the
mike,

You can't copy a preset to a track.........you only can record a preset(step,grid or realtime) to a track.

track and play..nothing, no sound? What is my dumb ass doing wrong?

So you know what I'm doing that's not working..here are my steps.
1. Press pattern mode - go to empty patteren
2. Find a preset I want to use
3. Press save/copy
4. scroll to copy preset - Press enter
5. Back to petter
6. Press edit pattern
7. Paste clipboard to track 1 - Press enter
8. Back to pattern
9. Press track 1 -- nothing?
