Yep, still glad i brought mine.. Ive tryed (and owned..) MPC2K, QM309, MMT8's. Got to say that the command station is powerful enough with the features it has to create good sounding tracks on its own. I dont like many of the presets but that is where you ve got to get in there and program your own. Mine was expanded (XL-7) with the Techno synth construction yard and the beat garden rom. I put in the Protean drum rom as well. With all of that in there there are 3037 (ish..!) samples, thats alot! How many kick drums etc do you really need?? Ive heard some stuff come out of this box that sounds very much like my Waldorf XT (not 100% of course). Thats good in my world. I wish that you could map out your own drum kits more sensibly beyond the 4 layer and transposing layers.. also wish it had a flash card interface. I sat here yesterday wondering about the filters, very subtle at times to the point of not working?? But then you change the sample are they spring into life. Depends on a samples harmonic make up i guess. Also i find the effects buss routing stange as well. Maybe this was a hardware limitation? It works though.. Ive still got a lot more to figure out about this box, but its deep enough to get right in there. Love it! At the end of the day i find this more creative interface than the MPC which i did feel was a battle at times, then it would crash.. The QM309 is amasing in a simular way but lacks any real power. Great for crunchy techno and sampling from. MMT8's are MMT8's... Dont know much about the roland groove boxes, other than i didnt take then too seriously.. Didnt like the sound of them at all, same old "sound" and no bollox. Cheers a Gonz --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Brock Hiroshima <brockhiroshima@s...> wrote: > the Yamaha RS 7000 is pretty beefy!
