I too have have had a lot of trouble with USB MIDI interfaces. When I set up my current computer (Athalon 750) I got a MidiSport 4x4 usb interface. I could not get the audio and the MIDI to sync. I thought is was the soundcard for a long time. After hearing about other folks with the same problem I picked up a parallel port interface and things have been much better. I think the problem is that win98 (and possibly others) dont handle the USB ports in a timing sensitive way. I am under the impression that things are better with later versions of windows, sequencers, drivers and what-not but I am set up for the moment. Heck, it only took me 10 years to upgrade from my last system.
