I never meant to imply that you could run 512 channels at once, but you
can program that many. If you have 32 internal midi channels, each of
which CAN be programmed with 16 seperate tracks, you get my drift. True,
polyphony would definitely be an issue long before you reached that limit.

Subject: [xl7] Re: Command Station FAQ Draft Finished
There is a problem with the FAQ:
The Command Stations can control up to 64 MIDI channels, not 512!
There are 32 internal MIDI channels(times 4 layers per preset equals
128 voice polyphony) which are named 01A through 16A and 01B through
16B. There are 2 MIDI outs(MIDI Out A and MIDI Out B) with 16 MIDI
channels each for a total of 32 external MIDI channels. 32 plus 32
equals 64. Got it? There are 16 sequencer tracks and each can control
up to 16 channels, but this is of course limited to the channels that
are available to the Command Station.

P.S. I'm surprised that someone as knowledgable as you rEalm would
miss that one ;)
