Thanks M2 for the reply, claiming ignorance here, I'll take your input as more credible than the place I bought the Proteus 2500 from. I've been out of the recording hobby for some time and I just bought the Proteus 2500 as an alternative to the XL7, which is what I really wanted. It makes sense that the sounds won't be the same unless the ROM is also available in the 2500. What the CD does have are all of the song and pattern files (the .MID files) for the MP7 and the XL7, but thats all. Based on your opinion, do you think there's any advantage the 2500 has over the XL7 or MP7? The reason I ask is because I've considered returning the 2500 in exchange for a XL7 after doing some more research and after reading your reply. Your opinion would be helpful, Thanks, jp- -----Original Message----- From: emufreak1 [mailto:mmcquay@...] Sent: Saturday, January 26, 2002 2:19 PM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: [xl7] Re: Sad MIDI connection question. jp, Without the ROM's from the XL-7(X-LEAD#9089)and the MP-7(Pure Phatt#9062)in your 2500, the sounds you are trying to download will NOT work. The presets are directed to pull information from the ROM itself.
