It's really not that bad as long as you set things up the right way.

*Boot Mac in OS9
*Open OMS and assign correct Settings and Prefs
*Open Eloader - check for proper MIDI communication - XL<>Mac
*follow the sys update instructions.

I had trouble too at first - and for me the key was really learning
OMS and making the proper settings - once that was done everything
worked fine. I did have times after changing various settings in OMS
and Eloader when no matter what, nothing worked. I usually found that
shutting down and then powering up the entire system including the XL7
and the MIDI interface into the exact same setup eliminated the
problem and then everything worked as indicated.

I have updated the system 2X since then - and the Eloader/OMS setup
has worked great with no problems.
