Tried doing (relatively) complex voting like that in other contests I've run or participated in, and ultimately it ends up being more confusing and less people end up voting overall. Chances are we won't have enough entries anyway to make it feasible. No reason you can't make up your own categories after the fact though, be good to discuss on the list once we're all done. rEalm I'm cool with this idea and have a suggestion as to how to make it work--if its technologically possible. Each voter gets to rate each submission with 1, 2, or 3 "best" categories. The judges then compile the list of "bests" for each submission. For example, someone might do a piece that other composers might label as: (1) best rendition of a theme from Frank Zappa (2) best combination of pads and strings juxtaposed with a mutated melody disguessed as harmony (3) best use of overlapping duple, triple, quintuple, septuple, and nonuple meters in a 32 measure composition. etc. This way, in theory, everyone is a winner!!!! --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "djnorythm" <enter_the_netman@h...> wrote: > Hey, > > I don't think the "contest" should be a competitive affair.
