Ok, sounds like we have a few people interested in this then, so here's my ideas for the rules: - Only the XX-7 can be used to supply the sounds and the sequencing duties. You may use an external keyboard for note input, but no other synth, samplers, or audio may be used. - All entries must be 32 measures or less in length. And no, you can can't halve the tempo and other tricks to make that 32 measures seem like 64 or 128! :) - All entries must be submitted as MP3 files for voting, no mastering or post processing allowed. Once we decided where to host these, more info will be provided on which MP3 bit rates will be allowed. - Voting will be via a Yahoogroups poll, each voter will get to vote for their favorite song. In the event of a tie, the owners of the tieing songs will get one additional week to tweak their songs before a revote. - All entries will be anonymous until after voting, at that point we will announce who the winners are, and people can post any notes about how they made their songs. Maybe we can even get Emu to throw in a small prize? So, I'm guessing a month is more than enough time to get a 32 measure song written, so we should tentatively aim for all songs to be done and submitted NO LATER than Monday, August 30th. Which brings us to, where to host these songs? I was thinking about setting up a soundclick site, but to be honest I would prefer if someone could offer up some server space for us and maybe help with coding the page to display the entries. So if anyone is interested in helping out, please contact me to discuss this further. If no one volunteers, I will try and set up a soundclick site. Another option would be to just use the files section of this group to host the songs. They would have to be zipped, as space is limited, and we would need to go through and delete currently unneeded data for the time being, as we are almost maxing out our storage limits as it is. comments, ideas? rEalm The information transmitted is intended only for the person(s)or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or legally privileged material.
