Re: [xl7] How long did it take?

How long did it take you to learn the Command Station? To the point where
you could utilize let's say 80% of its
capabilities and make some finished songs?

>>>>Still learning, but I'd say within a couple of weeks I was up to speed
enough to be making tracks without needing to look in the manual at all.
<<<

Did you read the entire manual first, or did you read and go along at the
same time?

>>>Yes and yes. Read the PDF which I downloaded from the EMu site when I
was still debating getting the XL-7. I've since read the manual about 4-5
times all the way through. It really does help to revisit this stuff from
time to time, amazing what kind of things you miss or forget. <<

I guess I am trying to see what the best ways for learning it have been
for you.

>>>For me, reading the manual multiple times has definitely been key,
though the best way to learn any new gear is just to use it as much as
possible. Sounds dumb, but honestly, the more you use ANYTHING, the
quicker and more familiar you'll get with it. When you get new gear, plan
on spending a couple of weeks using ONLY that gear, and before you know it
you'll be up to speed.

One more tip. Don't try to learn every single feature right away. I find
it's best to initially focus on how things are organized and where things
are grouped in the menus. Once you learn this, all the individual
features become very intuitive to find and use. <<<
