As a workaround for the inability to revert in XMIX, try using a
duplicate pattern (if you have enough memory, you can just copy your
entire bank of patterns to another bank). So for example you'd start
with pattern 1 in bank 1, change track 2 to use track 2 from pattern
3, then switch to track 2 from pattern 1 in bank 0 (the dupe bank) to
revert to the original pattern.

It means using more note memory, but it should work, and you could
just do it for your "base" patterns to save memory.
