You might want to look into the Protean Drum ROM too, it has a lot of rock 
kits, and definitely more drum sounds suited to what you want versus the 
XL-7 ROM.

Hi. I just purchased an xl-7 on ebay. I don't know if it was the best
buy for what I want to do, but it was all I could afford. I want to
make metal or rock type music. Obviously a band would be better, but I
am too shy to work with other people, and I'm sure that alot of people
on here would agree that making an entire song by oneself is decent. I
was wondering if anyone here uses one of the xx-7s to make anything
similar to metal rock or anything like that, and what else besides the
emu is needed.
