One of the very few things that disappoint me with my XL is that for most purposes that I can think of, the B channels are useless since there is only a midi out. I would love to control my external boxes from the B channel, but it just wasn't all that practical (or I just didn't get how to do it). As a result, I am now limiting myself to 16 channels, which is OK but how much nicer if Emu just could have squeezed out another port! Oh well.......... I've been trying to use the volume and pan knobs on the XL to control those paramaters on my other gear. I was having a bit of trouble, so I checked things out with Midiox. I had been considering a switch anyway. I currently use A channels for the internal synth and B channels for outboard, but I rarely use more than 16 tracks in a song... if I do, I just end up combining tracks anyway. It seems like I'm just doing a lot of unnecessary setup, and it would actually be to my advantage to > have everything together on the A channels.
