I just bought a 6U EMS modular rack case from www.cpcase.com (actually I got it second-hand for 50 quid), with the slanting mounting kit that fits in the top. The case is made from a lightweight composite. Inside I have mounted my E-MU E6400Ultra in the bottom three units, a small gap (less than 1U, and in the top is my MP-7. The whole thing is barely bigger than an E-MU rack sampler with an XX-7 sitting on top, and is much more prtable coz everything is bolted down and it's got handles and lids etc. The best part is that I haven't modded anything, nor have I compromised any future expansion possibilities (if you put the XX-7 inside the E5000, I doubt you will be able to fit an RFX card in there if you ever wanted to - and you might given that you can add a 4 input expansion to the RFX card that will enable you to route all the 6 outs from the XX-7 thru the sampler, including both the samplers filters and envelopes, and the RFX effects). Just so you know where I am coming from here a few words of history. I am a pc mod geek and am very good with a dremel. Who here would not love to have the heart and soul of a Eos sampler built into a XL? Ok so I have a E5000 and a XL-7. The last time I looked there was a wack of room in my E5000. Hmmm ya know what I think there may have been room for all that is inside a XL.......Oh man. Just picture a E5000 with XL built right into the top. Ok I am not saying that I am going to do it but I will say that i am going to give it some serious thought! I have not posted here in ages but this wacky idea I had to share with some other XL peeps. Any thoughts from the group? worth a try? What do you guys think ? Peace Mike G. P.s. the IBGEEK group could use a bit of life. it is a dying group, so please check it out. Yahoo! Groups Links
