How I would find out if I am able to use midi in's and outs on my > computer? if you have a PC use the USB port. if you're on Macintosh (like me) you better have: a) a computer capable of running Mac OS 9.x - your "slightly old" description would probably satisfy this. b) a MIDI connection of some kind. for cheap MIDI connections, i've found the MOTU FastLane USB interfaces very effective. 2 in/2 out with no power cable (bus powered) and a nice switch to send the MIDI ins directly through to the MIDI outs. i have things wired so that with the passthrough off, my MIDI sequencer (Digital Performer) can control all of the synths, but with the passthrough on i can have my XL-7 drive everything else. nifty! -- Bruddah Max Lord of the Dance
