Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I just popped my newly recieved Ensoniq Project ROM in and did a very quick runthough and I am happily surprised. I expected at least two banks to sound identical to the sounds in my Ensoniq Urban Dance Project ROM for my ASRX but damed if I couldn't even see any similarities!! I mean, practically nothing! It appears the Emu took the samples but then created completely new patches with them. And if anyone really thinks about it, one knows that a singe sample can be made to sound like pretty much anything when programmed through a synth.

There are lots of very good solid kits and the ethnic sounds are very good and varied but I didn't hear anything I hadn't heard before. But I can say I am glad I now have them at easy disposal to use and program with, and with which lots of possibilities exist. I have never heard the Planet Earch rom so can't compare at all.

I need to sit my command station next to my ASRX and delve into the individual samples to find any similarities I guess. Just gives me one more reason to keep the ASRX since my sound ROM is not duplicated!
