Call E-MU at 1-888-372-1372 to demand ROMS you want!!!

2004-03-12 by Marcello

Hi all. If you visit E-MU's website, you will notice that not all
compatible ROMS are listed AND some seem to be disappearing from the
marketplace. This is a shame, because the command stations are
relatively new AND E-MU is now able to make ROMS available for good
prices (between 79.99 and 149.99 as opposed to a couple of hundred
dollars more or both ends of the price spectrum)

I called E-MU and spoke to a representative. I inquired about the
ROMS that are not listed and those that we should "call for
availability" for and I was told that while some are avaiable, for
others, they are considering producing more based on customer demand
(they keep a record of demand when customers call in). I am told that
E-MU cut production because they do not want to get stuck with a few
thousand ROMS that don't sell after placing a bulk order for them.
Personally, I want the World Expedition ROM but I was told that there
are no plans to make more given the assumed "low demand". That can
change if enough of us demand this and other ROMS.

To make a long story short, I want to let fellow E-MU Command
Center/Sound Module/Keyboard users know what's going on so that they
can have the chance to demand the ROMS they want before they are only
available at inflated prices in the "second hand market" (especially
considering the recent price drops). Also, you should all research
what ROMS are compatible because not all of the ROMS are listed on
the website. Because I did my research, I was able to inquire about
the Composer ROM (that shipped with the Proteus 2000) and order one
even though it is not listed on the website as available. I bought
the Composer ROM for $106.00 shipped, brand new with warranty. I saw
the same ROM selling for $175.00 on ebay a few days ago EXCLUDING
SHIPPING. If you are skeptical, take a look at the ROM prices from
the link above and compare them to E-bay prices for second hand stuff.

The moral of this message is to call E-MU and demand the ROMS you
want that aren't available so that they will make more for those of
us who invested in E-MU equipment. (Call 1-888-372-1372)

Also, if you know of any other places to share this message (other
E=MU forums, friends who use ROM compatible equipment, etc), by all
means, spread the word.
