Read the following for (a) an explanation of the simple answer and (b) alternatives. Hope this helps. --Dr. Steve Look in the manual for the following: (1) an "Output & Effects Processors" diagram [a picture is worth a zillion words] (2) Preset Edit Menu: Common Preset Parameters: Preset Effects (3) Global Menu: Master Effects Here are some important points. (You may also want to search the archives). BASICS [Effects via FX processor]: (1) You cannot program different effect types (FX processor algorithms) for every track. (2) There are in essence two FX processors: FXA and FXB. (3) You can select one effect algorithm from processor A and one from processor B. (4) These are global for all sounds routed through the main audio outputs. (5) The FX parameters are a function of the synth engine not the sequencer, although you can in effect switch FX "macros" with sequenced (and non-sequenced) program changes. [See (120) below.] (6) You can store a number of settings for both FXA and FXB. (7) For storing and selecting FX parameters you can either use: --(a) the master effects settings --(b) the preset effects settings on a specific designated channel. (8) IMPORTANT POINT: You have 4 internal effect send parameters (%) for each of the two FX processors. [See manual sections cited above.] (9) You can control in various ways (static and dynamic) various FX parameters. (10) You have many options to control FX parameters based on: --(a) your understanding of the E-Mu architecture --(b) your own creativity --(c) the availability of advice from those who have been there. [reserved] (120) One advanced suggestion I really like (I forget who suggested it)is creating effects-only presets (presets with (a) 000:none for the instruments on L1->L4, (b) desired FX settings) and designating an FX control channel (eg: using FX settings from the preset on C16B)). (121) You can use Preset Patchcords to set up controls for the FXA and FXB Send amounts for modification via realtime controllers. (127) You can use the synth engine architecture (eg. layer-level patchcords) to create various effects. BASICS [Effects via preset design]: --patchcord design basics go here --examples to go here ---->automatic guitar wah effect [see archives] ---->others ------>chorus: copy layer [optional], on one layer route LFO1 to fine pitch using a small amount. ------>honky tonk piano: do chorus with piano preset, increase amount routed to fine pitch. ------>tremolo: use a preset with a Low Pass Filter (with frequency and cutoff = 0), apply LFO to FiltFreq with a medium-low negative amount. ------>tremolo switch: do the above (with the LFO-> FiltFreq = 0), and have the amount controlled by another patchcord (routed from the CC of your choice) so that 100% of that CC turns on the tremolo and 0% turns off the tremolo. NOTE: I did not have time to spell out the exact steps to do the above preset effects, but I hope you can see that you can with a little design do what you want. You can: (1) create your own preset-based effects [eg, tremolo switch] (2) turn the effects on an off via recordable and insertable CCs. ADVANCED: [We don't want to go here just yet.] THE BOTTOM LINE: The P2K synth engine architecture and Command Station/P2500 Sequencer are extremely powerful and flexible, but you cannot simply route every track to different FXA and FXB algorithms.
