Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Hi, new to the group.  Awesome stuff!  Here's my question.

Is there a way to create custom sound kits without using up so many 
user presets?  I know that a user preset can have up to four 
customized roms and I understand that you can link up to two more 
presets giving you 12.  But would those last eight be able to be 
altered and somehow saved without having to save it as another user 
preset?

I'm also thinking about if I can set the sound "adjustments" (pitch, 
decay, filter settings, etc.) somehow in cc or sys exe into the 1st 
tick of the pattern.  I've done it with other instruments but am 
wondering if this is even possible with the MP-7.  And if so how?

Trying to avoid creating a lot of user patches per song or preset and 
later having to track them all so that I don't screw something up 
once I've aquired a bunch of them.
